Australian Artist Ryan L Foote's artwork reflects upon contemporary popular culture and the emergences of trend culture, taking the form of large installations and event based artworks that create social spaces that delve into the opulent culture of fashion, art, design, and the layering of visual literacy.

Foote studied at the Victorian College of the Arts, completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Majoring in Sculpture and Spatial Practices in 2005, and then Honours in 2006. Foote has gone on to have many exhibitions around Australia and has created numerous installations for Mercedes Australian Fashion Week, L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival, and many other fashion festivals.

Foote's studio location has become a major part of his artwork, setting up temporary studios in major retail locations, where the public can watch him and his art practice, and he can observe and document them and emerging trends in fashion. Foote's performative studio practice constructs a two way flow of information.

From this collection of photo documentation of people, objects, clothing whilst in the studio, at fashion shows, events, art openings and other functions, he builds up a library of visual literacy, which he then turns into line drawings and then into intricately layered pattern work. This process of building up layer upon layer of imagery and concepts has become a key element to his artwork.
